Ruby Skye is one of San Francisco's most famous clubs. Once the historic Stage Coach Theatre, this 2 level 15,000 venue features multiple dance floors, bars and VIP lounges, a smoking lounge and stage. On many evenings speciality acts (i.e. fire breathers) will provide entertainment. This kind of production effort is seldom matched in San Francisco. Like many venues (especially ones of this size), it is best to visit Ruby Skye when a renown DJ is scheduled to perform.

1) One of the best clubs in the US for House Music

2) Phenomenal Sound System . Yes it is phenomenal.

3) Great light system

4) Ok Visuals

5) Too many drunks - Ruby is always best after last call (1:30am). The drunks leave and the people who are into the music stick around.

6) Too many drunks - oops I already wrote that....

7) Friendly staff - ALL the staff - inlcuding door crew, bar staff, bouncers etc. All are very friendly and helpful.

8) Wear comfortable shoes and get ready to dance.

This is a DJ club.
I like this club, and at this point I think it is the best club in SF.

Upside: good music, DJs, venue.
Downside: Way too loud = can't go there often.

Overall: 4 out 5 , but still so far, in my opinion, it is the best club in SF :)

I had the most amazing time at Ruby Skye. I was in town only for a short weekend trip and had the most fun at Ruby Skye. The DJ was excellent! I would definitely recommend, but wear your dancing shoes, cause you won't want to sit. Trevor definitely took care of us.

I have been to Ruby tons of times and it is the only place where it's always fun. Love the staff and it's obviously got the best sound system. Awesome place. 11/7/2008 10:36:50 PM

I had the chance to hang out behind the DJ area when kaskade was here in march. So much fun! even had a chance to hang out with some of the gogos in the dressing area. this place has it all, great dj's, hot gogo dancers, lazers, and some times they also have acrobats/trapeze artitsts! 8/19/2008 4:40:22 PM

favorite club period. Ruby skye brings top level talent each and every weekend. Always a good time to be had. keep an eye out for guestlists on Evelvetrope. 8/16/2008 2:42:59 PM

I've never been to a party at Ruby Skye that didn't blow my mind. From the All-Star Game after party to Donald Glaude to Donovan's White Party, this place just doesn't disappoint

It's a great club if you are gearing up for a long night and love house music. i'm not sure it's your every night engagement but it is a really fun, really large venue that draws a lot of renown dj's. they also have dancers giving it that euro feel and the scene and atmosphere is one of kind in SF. 6/10/2008 4:08:10 PM

Arguably one of the best club in San francisco. The lineup is simply phenomenal as the best djs from around the world are present to rock the place. The inside is modern and chic, and the sound coming out of the speakers is awesome, it will blast your ears but won't make you deaf. There is usually a show while the dj is playing, and it greatly enhances the party atmosphere. Drinks are well-priced, and the staff is very friendly. If you are looking for quality djs, sets, edgy house/electro music, you have to check out Ruby Skye in San Francisco. Definitely a club that deserves more recognition and respect for always delivering the best of house/dance music! 5/29/2008 3:30:55 PM

Ruby Skye has been a great place to see amazing world renowned DJ's from around the world. I loved the Kaskade and the Crystal Method shows that were put on. The dancers and their costumes are good, however the acrobats are what you really want to see- they are amazing to watch. The bartenders are fast and attentive. The dress code is a bit too casual for me sometimes, but overall I can always guarantee having a great time every time I go. 5/28/2008 11:50:54 AM

Love this club! Great sound and hot dancers! Fun environment 5/3/2008 7:10:17 PM

Ruby Skye is probably the MOST visited club in SF. The music is usually house, as they have shows by a lot of DJ's. They are open till 4AM for all you late night junkies. They also have a room where they play hip hop from time to time and you can smoke. Try to get one of the VIP rooms upstairs. It's very exclusive and you can see practically the whole club. I like the upstairs a lot. 5/3/2008 2:47:51 PM

It's only the best venue with the best DJ's. I can trust that there will always be great music and I can dance until 4am! 5/1/2008 11:20:14 AM

Ruby Skye is the best in the bay; best djs, best everything. So many good times here, its become an institution. the door and everybody working at Ruby is cool. it's a massive place(not as confusing as 1015) so that's both good and bad. Classy, especially for such a big place with big name djs. 3/14/2008 11:01:26 PM

One of the best clubs, if not THE BEST in SF. Love this place. Always a good vibe. Just hate the parking situation. Staff is always excellent. Very on top of things. Not to mention their always impressive bookings. 3/4/2008 1:43:01 PM

Need I Said More..Ruby Skye!!! The best sound system, world renowned DJ's, friendly staff, & sophicated crowd!!! 2/29/2008 9:40:35 AM

Over the years Ruby Skye has set the standard for nightlife in San Francisco and the entire Bay Area. And with its unique architecture, posh interior, and its convenient downtown location it will remain there for years to come. Since she first opened her doors to the public, no other place has come close to this still legendary venue. A true Mecca for the club community. 2/20/2008 5:12:38 PM

Ruby Syke is an Oldtime favorite for me because some of the biggest DJs in the Electronic industry are able to show us their skills in this gorgeous bulding. 2/14/2008 7:58:36 PM

Gorgeous venue...mostly great talent...best place to get drinks...well for me anyway! it's my resident club so far....the pregame party if nothing else...
great bartenders on all levels!

Ruby Skye in San Francisco has the most exciting atmosphere. The exquisite architecture combined with the amazing production (lighting, sound, dancers, etc.) offer the patrons a chance to escape the the grind of daily life and enter a fantasy land of great music and beautiful people. 2/1/2008 2:47:07 PM

Seek and ye shall find... Great atmosphere, electrifying DJ's that always far exceed expectations!!! Ruby Skye aims to please all of your senses and does it with class and style. 1/25/2008 1:01:37 PM

Ruby Skye has become an SF icon for a reason .... beautiful venue, great music and plenty of room to dance! 12/30/2007 7:41:43 PM

Can you say "bridge and tunnel crowd?" The only club in SF that non-San Franciscans know about and hence the crowd is always lame. The club does pull in some very well known DJ's from around the globe so just make sure you're only going for the music. Oh and bring earplugs. It's the loudest sound system I've ever experienced... brain-shaking loud. 12/16/2007 10:20:23 PM

Ruby Skye is the ultimate night spot in SF. The grand architecture and whole vibe/atmosphere is a must do when you're in the city. From the VIP area to the large bottom level dance floor...it's an incredible experience. The bartenders are fantastic, pouring great drinks and are FAST at what they do. Don't miss out on Ruby Skye..you won't be sorry! 11/18/2007 11:16:58 AM

Trust me... Ruby is an amazing place to go... Great vibe.... Just make sure you like the style of music the DJ plays. If you dont like hard loud noise.. take ear plugs because that place bumps. 10/22/2007 8:23:08 PM

I would go here every night...if every other club in the city was destroyed by a meteor and Ruby Skye was the only one standing. The decor is amazing and the djs are always tops, but they don't filter the crowd so you end up with east bay thugs and a bunch of marina guys who venture off the chestnut and fillmore reservation for a little variety. It's great if you want to see whoever from Ibiza spin there, but otherwise go next door to slide and you'll have a much better night. 10/14/2007 4:20:24 PM

You have to go to Ruby Skye at least once in your life, but only when someone awesome is performing. Until somone else can find a more dramatic and grand venue to host events, no other nightclub in SF can compare. 10/11/2007 12:49:45 AM

This place has the size over most SF clubs, it gets good DJ's and really busy on Saturday nights, a little too packed sometimes but nice place and good music 9/10/2007 5:45:15 PM

Ruby Skye has been my favorite nightclub in the SF Bay Area for over 7 years. Night clubs come and go, however Ruby Skye stays consistent with presenting the best dj's/music, attracting great crowd, and maintaining an upscale atmosphere. This night club has exceptional sound system and visual effects, unlike any other in the SF Bay Area (or dare I say the whole Northern California). It is a very large space, however it always seems to be full; the popularity of Ruby Skye does not die. This nightclub seems to mostly appeal to an attractive and mature crowd of mid- or late-twenties to early-thirties. This is definitely not a jeans and t-shirt type of establishment, people generally dress trendy and appealing. However, I also find that majority of the people are friendly and down to earth and it is very easy to meet new people and make friends. In my opinion, Ruby Skye is simply the best nightclub in the Bay Area. 8/21/2007 4:19:52 PM

had the best time this past weekend at Donovan's Summer Love Party and the Mind Control/SENSE gig......the vibe and crowd was on point and the sound system got a total workout during Richie Santana & Peter Bailey on Saturday. its always fun going there Ruby's definitely running it in S.F. right now :) 8/13/2007 11:29:48 AM

If you like loud, huge spaces where no one can hear anything above the pounding of the base, then this is for you- not me. It lacks an intimacy and the grace of the smaller, more sophisticated venues, and the crowd is soo hodge podge that there is never a consistent vibe. I have been here 3x over the last 3 years and every time I swear never again. I love the drama of the interior, but it lacks because it is so big that you either feel that it is empty or busting at the seams. The only way I go back is if an artist I loooved was playing here, otherwise I am sticking to SF's more refined offerings. 8/11/2007 1:42:38 PM

This place is really cool. I would for sure recomend. 8/3/2007 9:43:40 PM

A pleasant surprise, Ruby Skye's atmosphere can be described as overwhelming...in a good way. ;) I was hesitant at first to check out this venue as I'm not a notable fan of House. But the DJ playing that night was incredible, mixing The Police and Nirvana (amongst many other great artists) with a beat that enveloped the room and vibrated through your body like a pulse. The forum itself is stunning, mimicking the ornate decor of an old Opera House. Although the dance floor can often be crowded, an experience of Ruby Skye can't and shouldn't be any other way. There was a definite carefree attitude; it was difficult to spot a patron who wasn't dancing as if he or she was the only person in the room. If you can appreciate a beat that compels your limbs to move like a marionette, synced with a light show that could rival Cirque de Soleil, then you have to check out Ruby Skye. 7/26/2007 10:54:23 AM

Ruby Skye has been known for their notorious Guest Dj from all over the World. To me this Place is timeless. Whether you arrive there for the entire night or join the after party, You will be guaranteed a great time. 7/23/2007 4:27:37 PM

Went to Ruby Skye for lucky 7-7-7 with three others. This was the first time I've been to the club. No lines at 10pm when we arrived. I like to get there early not only because there are fewer people in line but also because I like to get comfortable with my surroundings and feel the atmosphere build into the night.

Upon entering the main room I was taken back. I had not seen any pictures at all previously and so seeing the stage, the old artwork on the walls, high ceilings, balcony bar area...it was a lot to take in but it was awesome! This was by far the best looking club I've been to. It had a very nice upscale feel to it.

The best thing for us was chilling up on the balcony area, looking down as the dance floor went from empty to hopping in a few hours time. The first DJ was James Williams and I have to say I loved his music so much. It was hardcore trance but not so much you couldn't move and feel the beat while you danced. He would mix in wildlife sounds that gave it a very realistic feel, rather than the typical spacey sort of extraneous listening experience I get from trance.

Blank and Jones came on later during our break up on the balcony. We also took in the acrobatics, trapezeist, and go go dancers. All great acts, that elevated the club experience even more.

Water is 5 bucks, really hard for me to pay money for regular water but I suppose its about a normal cost for such an establishment, especially in downtown SF. Drinks were about on par to what I was used to paying at other places, maybe even a bit cheaper.

The staff was fine...after all I'm used to pretty ladies getting served at the bar first, no matter if I've been waiting for 10 minutes. Generally speaking though we weren't treated poorly.

At one point we kept getting crowded and glared at by a certain gentleman trying to push us off our vantage point on the rail up on the balcony. He was somewhat of an inconsiderate prick. Other than that though, the vibe was gr

By far the staple in the nightlife industry. Everyone has not the through the nightlife circuit unless they have been to Ruby Skye. The White Party is hands down their best event. 7/2/2007 8:21:15 AM

I have never had a bad time at Ruby Skye. Ever. One night my friend was heavingly sick off an enormous dinner of chicken & waffles, but he sucked it up and drank ginger ale all night because it's worth the pain. Top DJ's, fantastic sound, good ventilation and reasonably priced club drinks round out the heavily stocked arsenal of fun on Mason Street.

I've never seen a fight and the crowd tends to be courteous, which I appreciate. I don't know how much that has to do with the bouncers, but the ability to maintain a nice atmosphere like that is to be commended.

Love t or Hate it.. when there is a themed event, its cool to just go look at everything. Bar staff not so friendly on the main floor. The absolute best go go acrobatic displays.. So incredible to see that in itself.. not just the regulars, the guys they bring in with the ripped bods and amazing strength.. drool.
Cool VIP.. never squashed in there. Fun place for bdays and events, and favorite dj's. However, its near impossible to meet up with them because they are on a gigantic stage.. altho that stage is a blast to dance on!

I've only been to this place once, but I have to say that this place is awesome. I enjoyed the music and the crowd of the venue. I'd definitely recommend that venue as a place you should check out! 6/17/2007 3:32:10 PM

Simply put, this is the number one club in the Bay Area. It was also voted the top 5 club in all of the US by the Winter Music Conference in '07. With the best sound system in the area and frequently bringing in world class talent (Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, Bad Boy Bill, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude - just to name a few) this place rocks! Not to mention, it is inside of an actual Victorian era Opra theater, so you just know this place is special. They also have acrobats on a regular basis hanging a doing stunts from ropes and on the stage. As a bennifit, you can always walk next door and hit up their new club Slide, since it's ran by the same owners! For the big club experience, nothing else comes close. Two thumbs way up! 5/31/2007 1:54:20 PM

As SFs only upscale big club they do bring in some good acts every now and then, and if you like who's spinning that night by all means go. It's always full of people (of varying quality and class), but given the club?s size you?ll rarely be without a quieter spot to retreat to with someone new you met on the dance floor. The theme parties they have are generally well done, if a bit too tacky at times. The best one was when Donovan did the Rock Show at Ruby Skye - that was a spectacular event, possibly the best big party of 2006. I rarely go to Ruby Skye unless I?m a big fan of who?s playing, however, the scene and venue gets old pretty fast by itself. If you?ve been to one ?big old theater redone as a club? you?ve been to them all. 5/4/2007 11:35:35 AM

BY FAR THE BEST CLUB IN SAN FRANCISCO!! THE LIGHTING AND THEIR NEW AND IMPROVED SOUND WILL BLOW YOU AWAY!! ALWAYS BRINGING THE BEST ARTIST IN DANCE MUSIC!! RUBY SKYE WILL FOREVER BE A LEGENDARY NIGHTCLUB 5/4/2007 12:26:36 AM

Ruby Skye is not just a club, but actually an experience. My first time there was a earth-shaking event in my life. I walked out of Ruby Skye thinking, "What do I need to do to be a promoter for Ruby Skye?" Ruby Skye is the Best the City has to offer. The Vip-treatment is the city's best, especially if you get to party it up , in the Glass room, right above the stage. The sound sytem literally makes your noise hear tickle. My favorite experience at Ruby had to be when management, invited me to Paul Oakenfold VIP style. Staring down onto the crowd, reminded me of a sea of people swaying back and forth stomach to back.
Absolutely amazing........
p.s. and Yes 4 years later I had my shot with ZTRIP@RUBY..
A dream come true..

Love Love Love Ruby Skye - when there is a great DJ, otherwise the place can bore the hell out of me - no matter how much I want to dance! 3/16/2007 12:40:46 PM

It would be nice if they made fridays a 'mash-up' night with some of the big name 'mash-up' djs across the world. I think the 'crowd' will remain upscale and more people will come out there on fridays. I also think it would increase bar sales. Ruby Skye has all the money and resources to bring in some of the hottest acts, but they choose to remain a 'HOUSE' music ONLY club. 2/1/2007 5:45:49 PM

The Prettiest/Biggest/Most Respected/Best Venue in the bay area hands down. As a promoter, it should be your goal to organize an event here. If you can put something together and make it work here. You can basically handle any other venue. Any club goer in the bay area as heard of ruby skye and has been to ruby skye.... 11/3/2006 1:07:39 PM
